Campaign organises eco-town meeting for residents Communities Against Ford Eco-Town (CAFE) has organised a public meeting to update local residents on the campaign against the proposal to build an ‘eco-town’ at Ford. The meeting will be held at Yapton and Ford Village Hall on Friday 14 November, starting at 7pm. Representatives from CAFE will provide an overview of the local and national situation with regard to eco-towns, describe the way ahead and advise local residents on how they can support the ongoing campaign. The public will also be invited to ask questions. West Sussex MPs Nick Herbert (Arundel & South Downs) and Nick Gibb (Bognor Regis & Littlehampton) will speak at the meeting. CAFE vice-chairman and Yapton resident Vicky Newman commented: “It would be easy to assume, with the credit crunch, that the eco-town will not happen now. Sadly, this is far from the case. The developers are determined to get the green fields of Ford designated for house-building and will stop at nothing to achieve it. The fight must go on until Ford is removed from the Government’s shortlist.” Mrs Newman added: “I have been overwhelmed by the response of local residents who are united in their opposition to the eco-town. I hope they will turn out in force on 14 November to demonstrate their continuing support for the campaign.”
Any money raised on the
night will go to the BBC’s Children in Need appeal |
